Topic of My Research Paper

My topic for my research paper thus far is, Should juvenile offenders be tried and punished as adults? I chose this topic because this is a major issue in the court systems today. Many people have strong opinions on how children should be punished based on the crime they commit. Whether they think they should get the same punishment of an adult or whether they should get a reduced punishment because they are a kid, these opinions are very strong, and often cause havoc in the court system. I want to be able to dicuss how I think decisions should be made, how they commonly are made, and how courts make the decisions they do. Overall, I want to put myself in the shoes of the juvenile, victim, and the judge, and decide what a possible answer is to this question.
